Four Decades of Illinois Defense
Before entering private practice, Victor P. Shane served as Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County from 1984 to 1987, where he gained firsthand experience with the Illinois legal system from the ground up. He then served as staff counsel for the Chicago Transit Authority from 1987 to 1991, working primarily in tort defense and workers’ compensation — experience that gave him a uniquely practical understanding of how large institutional employers approach claims and litigation.
Mr. Shane has lectured on workers’ compensation issues for the Chicago Bar Association as part of its Continuing Legal Education Program, demonstrating a commitment to advancing the legal community’s knowledge of this complex practice area.
He served as President of the Chinese American Bar Association from 1992 to 1994 and remains an active member of multiple professional organizations including the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association.
